This years Trials

This season, both of our trials will be held in the spectacular hills of County Donegal with the kind permission of Mr. Stuart McIntosh of the Bracken Hill Shoot and Game Farm. Overlooking Mulroy Bay, this Shoot boasts stunning views of the surrounding rugged countryside from its bracken covered hills and valleys which abound with Pheasant and Partridge and the most welcome of overseas visitor, the Woodcock. Hidden among these hills and the many blocks of forests are numerous ponds which give shelter to flocks of Mallard Duck as well as many migratory species. The Shoot itself comprises of almost every type of terrain imaginable from veins of forestry interspersed with small green fields and game crops to the vast heather and bracken covered hillsides from which this Shoot takes its aptly derived name. These bracken covered hillsides are ideally suited to testing the virtues of the Cocker Spaniel in an area that can only be described as "perfect Spaniel country".

Bracken Hill is a family run enterprise consisting of a game farm and Shoot located in Cranford, County Donegal and another Shoot near Cumbria in the UK. Mr. McIntosh and his team at Bracken Hill rear Partridge, Duck and many breeds of Pheasant and are renowned for the quality of their produce. Stuart or Trish can be contacted at the number below and are always willing work to your requirements be it game or Shooting. Please do browse through their website at www.brackenhillpheasantries.ie.

The Cocker Spaniel Club of Ireland wish to extend our sincere gratitude to Mr. Stuart McIntosh for permitting us to run our trials in this most wonderful environment and to all the team at Bracken Hill for their help in preparing the ground.
